I bought these #sidi cycling shoes 23 years ago. It was the summer before my senior year of college, when I had to planned to be at an ad agency internship in Chicago. But at last minute, they decided not to hire interns b/c of cut backs. I was crushed, I would never become a real copywriter. I moved back home with my Mom and got a job at a bike shop on a whim. I wasn’t a cyclist...until suddenly I was. I rode every trail within 50 miles and completed my first triathlon at the end of the summer. These shoes then raced on the MSU cycling team, finished a lot more tris, rode through West Virginia, Colorado and then some. After moving to Chicago and getting that ad job, they took me to work countless times, to century rides around Lake Tahoe, an epic trip around the island of Bali, and lately a lot of not-so-epic rides while my kids nap. Yesterday when I went out for a ride, they ripped. I planned to take them to the shoe maker (not for the first time) until Julie said it was time for a new pair. It hadn’t crossed my mind. But I knew she was right. Don’t ask me how cycling shoes can mean so much, but in this weird moment, they do. They opened more doors and clocked more miles than I could have dreamt of 20+ years ago and for that, I am grateful. Ride on! 🚲
Monday morning ride and meditation. So thankful for commute-time workouts and morning childcare!
Easter smiles brought to you by sunshine and these sweeet sisters! 🐰🌞👯‍♀️
Life looks better when your better half was made for this too! @nolajule
This morning Aria and I had a one-on-one date at our new favorite playground, right down the road from the lake house. I love that this place keeps surprising us and keeping us entertained all year long!
